The Emperor's Canary

2017
in collaboration with Joanna Malinowska
Sound installation presented using two sculpted gramophones separated from one another by a short distance on the High Line, dimensions variable

The two gramophones are inspired by Werner Herzog's film Fitzcarraldo.  The first gramophone plays a recording of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and the second plays a recording of a person with black lung disease – two sounds that, for the artists, represent crises in our relationship to the environment.
